HANK is a big, lovable, 3 1/2 year old
boy with a soft disposition and a goofy personality. He was found wandering
amuck on neighborhood streets as a pup and no one claimed him. Since
then, Hank has matured into a handsome, long legged, roughly 70 pound dog
with a tail that curls up over his back. It's hard to say exactly what
breed he is, but we think he could be a mix of pit bull, lab or perhaps some
Ridgeback given his size and build - but we really have no idea. Some of Hank's favorite activities include lengthy walks or jogs (his long legs can easily cover 10 mile jaunts), playing with other dogs (male or female), chasing after a soccer ball and relaxing with his people. He especially relishes being brushed and lightly scratched on the top of his head or back. If Hank sees a leash or hears the car keys, his ears perk up and he's at the door ready to go. He loves riding in the car and is a great passenger. Curious by nature, Hank has overcome his initial shyness and is now quite alert and eager to check out new situations. In the home, Hank is house trained, sleeps in a crate, and listens well to verbal commands. He is eager to please and a quick learner. His foster family continues to work with him on socialization and basic obedience training, and he knows a trick or two. Generally, Hank is a delightful companion that loves to be around people. During neighborhood walks, he will happily greet passers by and other dogs if given the opportunity. In his home, Hank will bark at strangers outside his door or yard, but once his people allow the strangers to enter, he sidles up to his new friends for some pats on the head or a belly rub. Although he's overcome most of his anxiousness, young, active children still make his nervous. Hank would do best in a quieter, calm home with older teens or adults whom have experience with dogs. He is fine living with other dogs, but cannot be trusted with cats.
