Good Owners, Great Dogs
Brian Kilcommons

Kilcommons has made quite a name for himself in the dog book world, and with good reason. If the regular Aussie sightings in the photographic examples of the book arent enough for you, then youll find his common sense approach to dogs a refreshing break from the more common dominance-tactic training methods from Koehler and the Monks of New Skete. Kilcommons outlines the basic ways a dog communicates with his own species and beyond, and then builds on this base throughout the book. He spends some well-deserved time developing basic fundamentals in forming a solid rapport with your dog. Covering everything from housebreaking and collar and lead introduction to basic obedience, you are sure to find his methods agreeable and applicable with your dog. Kilcommons also devotes a fair amount of his book space to addressing existing problems with a dog, great for owners tackling some of the common problems one might find in an adult dog upon adoption such as barking or jumping up. Kilcommons basic philosophy is one of understanding. Not merely a training book, this is the sort of manual you wish your partner or child came with, but at least it is available for your dog!
